Born in Tāmaki Makaurau, we began as a small group of New Zealanders with a shared passion: to share the rich, living culture of our country in a way that’s authentic, respectful, and meaningful. What started with culturally grounded tours has grown into a wider kaupapa through Tūhono Exchange, now delivering Indigenous exchange programmes, cultural orientations, homestay experiences, and immersive marae-based learning.
We believe there is a need for genuine Māori-led experiences that go beyond sightseeing, creating opportunities for meaningful connection, learning, and reciprocity. Our goal is to bring people from around the world together to experience te ao Māori, understand its significance to us as tangata whenua, and support both international visitors and locals to reconnect with culture and identity.
We are committed to delivering experiences that honour our whenua, uphold tikanga, support Māori communities, and ensure every participant leaves having engaged deeply, learned authentically, and become part of the wider story we are sharing.
